Environmental Volunteering in Botswana & Video BLUE PEACE TEAM 1
We are very happy to participate in this voluntary internship, we help protect wildlife in the Wild at Tuli reserve in Botswana, Afica. During our stay we stayed in tents with other Projects Abroad volunteers at the Wild at Tuli camp. It's a great way to get to know our fellow volunteers better and share the experience of living in the heart of the African savannah together. The camp has shared bathrooms with hot water. There is no electricity, but there are solar-powered charging stations so you have light at night.
Botswana has a desert and subtropical climate, characterized by large differences in daytime and nighttime temperatures, with generally low humidity. We are in the heart of the African savannah, on the banks of the mighty Limpopo River. With a large population of elephants, crocodiles lazing in the river sand, and lullabies composed of hyena laughter and lion roars, Tuli is truly a wild place.
The goal of this project is to preserve the land and ensure the survival of wildlife species facing various threats. We participate in animal research and anti-hunting patrols under the supervision of experts. we help build and repair rainwater wells and tanks. Thus we can ensure fresh water for the dry season, collecting it in the rainy season. We also help monitor birds and crocodiles, track footprints or keep a record of all mammals in the reserve.
1. We will reuse objects for crafts.
2. Read and learn about recycling and the environment.
3. We each plant a tree in their garden.
4. We will collect some non-biodegradable objects that we find on the road or streets of our neighborhood.
5. Instead of using a car, we will use the bicycle at least 2 days a week.
